Gometra Post Office - Local Carriage Stamps
Gometra local carriage stamps were launched on 1st April 2015. They come in 50p (postcard), £1 (letter), £3 (box of messages) and £5 (half cwt) denominations, for outgoing carriage of letters, postcards, messages and freight from Gometra to Ulva Ferry, and incoming carriage of messages and freight from Ulva Ferry to Gometra. Carriage beyond Ulva Ferry requires a Royal Mail stamp. Incoming carriage of letters and postcards is provided by Royal Mail's weekly incoming service from Ulva Ferry to Gometra.
The stamps are available in first day cover form, as mini-sheets of one each of the four different stamps, or as large sheets of five copies of each of the stamps, i.e twenty different stamps in all. The designs suggest Gometra's thrilling mystery and rich wildlife. Each stamp is 4.2 cm wide and 4.85 cm high (to centre of perforations).
Please email the Postmistress at spicypa73@yahoo.co.uk or write to Mrs Rhoda Munro, Isle of Gometra, Isle of Mull, Argyll, Scotland, PA73 6NA with your order.
Price for the mini-sheets is £11.50 inc. p&p (UK) and First Day Covers are £12.50 inc. p&p (UK). Please enquire for foreign postage and for discounts available on larger orders. A bonus set of free cancelled Gometra stamps will be included with each order. The stamps have been designed by Frida Alvinzi and printed by Juergen Schwarz in Berlin.
